I got furloughed from my full time hotel manager roll in 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic and it opened up a door for me that I never had time for before. I started baking during my spare time in my mum and dad's kitchen making cheesecakes, strawberries, cakes, cookies and more! I have never taken a baking course in my life (and never have still) it just came to me so naturally and I quickly realised how much I loved doing it.
After a few months of baking for friends and family and posting pictures on my personal instagram, I started to gain traction with the wider community and local area. So with a lot of encouragement from my friends and family I made the leap to create my business, and so beauty and the bakes was born!
At the start I was learning a lot - questioning if I had made the right decision to leave my full time management roll - making a lot of mistakes, growing, learning, researching & praying that this little business would be a success one day. But day after day, order after order I was getting busier and busier. I soon realised I needed my own space separate from my mum and dads kitchen and so made my first big investment in buying a custom built cabin out the back garden to make my cakes from and it was one of the best decisions I've made so far!
I made it my mission to make this business the best it can be. We were constantly improving and pushing to be bigger and better. 2023 was a year of constant focus, dedication & work and eventually we branched out into the wedding industry. I still can't believe I get to make wedding cakes for peoples big day! I pinch myself everyday I get to do this as a job. The famous quote goes like this:
"do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life"
2024 was our best year yet as we were busier than ever, collaborating with businesses big and small, making wedding cakes, attending food markets, we secured our first wholesaler agreement and of course created bespoke cakes for special occasions week in week out. building this business really has been the hardest thing I have ever done, but it has also been the greatest personal development journey I have ever been on. Everytime someone places an order with our small business we get an incredible feeling!
2025 is already shaping up to be an incredible year and we are ready to create your special cakes for you!
